‘Stop Blaming SIR’: Somanna Hits Out at Rahul Gandhi Ahead of Delhi Protest
New Delhi: Union Minister V Somanna on Friday targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the party’s planned protest in Delhi against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, citing remarks attributed to Karnataka minister Satish Jarkiholi.
In a post on X, Somanna questioned why Gandhi continued to blame the SIR exercise for the party’s political setbacks. He accused the Congress leadership of refusing to acknowledge its own shortcomings.

Somanna referred to Jarkiholi’s reported statement that there were no major issues with the SIR exercise in Karnataka and that names deleted from the electoral rolls belonged to deceased voters, people who had shifted residence and those with duplicate entries.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Somanna said the remarks had undermined the party’s campaign against the voter-list revision exercise. He also criticised the proposed Delhi protest, arguing that the party’s objections were contradicted by statements from within its own ranks.
