Tamil Nadu to Set Up 26 New POCSO Courts, Four Special NDPS Courts
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned 26 new Special POCSO Courts and four Special NDPS Courts across the state to speed up trials and ensure timely justice in cases involving child abuse and drug-related offences.
The decision followed a review of pending cases conducted by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. The government has allocated Rs 46.59 crore for establishing 26 additional POCSO courts.

With the expansion, Tamil Nadu will have 52 Special POCSO Courts across 47 police districts. These courts will exclusively handle offences against children, with the aim of expediting trials and ensuring stringent punishment for offenders.
The four new Special NDPS Courts are also expected to help accelerate proceedings in cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
