Thousands Witness Kaveri Teerthodbhava at Talakaveri in Kodagu
Kodagu: Thousands of devotees gathered at Talakaveri, the birthplace of the Kaveri, to witness the annual Kaveri Teerthodbhava, when the sacred water emerges from the Kundike during the auspicious Mesha Lagna.
Devotees from various districts of Karnataka, as well as neighbouring Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, arrived at the holy site to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Mother Kaveri.
The sacred occasion was marked by religious rituals and an atmosphere of devotion. Priests sprinkled the holy water on devotees, who raised slogans hailing Goddess Kaveri as the crowd joined in the celebrations.

Anticipating a large turnout, the Kodagu district administration and police made elaborate arrangements to ensure the event passed off smoothly. More than 500 police personnel were deployed to maintain security and regulate the movement of devotees.
The police also took measures to manage traffic, control crowds and prevent untoward incidents. Arrangements were made to facilitate devotees visiting the site to offer prayers and take a holy dip.
The annual Teerthodbhava holds deep religious significance for devotees, who regard the emergence of the sacred water as an auspicious occasion to worship the Kaveri, revered as a mother goddess and an important river in southern India.
The celebrations at Talakaveri once again drew large numbers of pilgrims, with religious observances and security arrangements going hand in hand.
