TRAI Releases Mobile Network Performance Report for Hyderabad–Hindupur Highway and Rail Routes
New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the findings of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) assessing the quality of mobile network services along the Hindupur–Hyderabad highway and the Hyderabad–Hindupur railway route in Andhra Pradesh.
The drive tests, conducted in April 2026, evaluated the performance of telecom operators including Airtel, BSNL, Reliance Jio (RJIL) and Vi (VIL) across key quality parameters such as network coverage, call drops, call setup success rate, voice quality and mobile data speeds.
The assessment covered 473.7 km on the highway and 515.8 km on the railway route, passing through major locations including Anantapur, Dhone, Kurnool, Jadcherla, Gooty, Dharmavaram and Hyderabad.
According to the report, Reliance Jio recorded the highest average download speed on both routes, reaching 244.03 Mbps on the highway and 119.61 Mbps on the railway corridor. Airtel ranked second with average download speeds of 109.79 Mbps and 25.16 Mbps, respectively.
The findings also showed that Airtel and Jio reported no dropped calls on the highway route, while BSNL recorded the highest number of call drops and network coverage gaps during the assessment.
TRAI said the findings have been shared with the respective telecom service providers to help improve service quality. The regulator conducts such drive tests periodically to assess real-time network performance and ensure better mobile connectivity for consumers.
