Mangaluru: Coastal cinema is gearing up for the release of Toss, a Tulu film that blends comedy, sentiment, action and thrills into what the makers describe as a complete family entertainer. Produced under the banners of Avika Productions and BRB Productions, the film is scheduled to hit theatres across Karnataka on September 18.
Director and lead actor Arjun Dev shared details about the film at a press conference in Mangaluru, saying comedy remains the central theme while the narrative also explores emotion, action and suspense.
Veteran Tulu filmmaker and State Award winner Dr Devadas Kapikad, popularly known as ‘Telikeda Bolli’, has written the story, screenplay, dialogues and lyrics. The film was shot in two schedules at various locations across Dakshina Kannada.
Toss has been filmed separately in both Tulu and Kannada, with the makers preparing for simultaneous releases in the two languages. The cast includes Dr Devadas Kapikad, Arjun Dev, Naveen D Padil, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Aravind Bolar, Prakash Tuminad, Deepak Rai Panaje, Pushparaj Bolar, Sutej Shetty, Sangeetha Shetty, Shobhraj Pavoor, Chaitra Shetty and Kruthi Shetty.
Music for the film has been composed by Manikant Kadri, while Joel Shaman D’Souza has handled cinematography and Yashwin K Shettigar has edited the film. Sagar Poojari is the producer and Sandeep Shetty is the executive producer. Actor Ganesh and Shilpa Ganesh have also extended their support to the project.
The film will open across key coastal centres, including Mangaluru, Surathkal, Padubidri, Udupi, Manipal, Kundapura, Karkala, Belthangady, Puttur and Sullia. Screenings are also planned in other Karnataka cities, including Bengaluru and Mysuru.
