VB-G RAM G Act awareness reaches 5.26 lakh Panchayati Raj representatives through 1,338 Panch Sammelans
New Delhi: Awareness about the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 has expanded across the country, with more than 5.26 lakh Panchayati Raj representatives, functionaries and officials participating in 1,338 district-level Panch Sammelans, the Ministry of Rural Development said.
The nationwide campaign was launched to familiarise elected representatives and functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) with the provisions of the Act and their roles in its implementation.
So far, 1,338 Panch Sammelans have been organised across the country, reflecting the participation of States and Union Territories in strengthening grassroots awareness and capacity building.
As many as 23 States and Union Territories have completed their scheduled programmes. They include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Jammu and Kashmir, and Puducherry.
Several states have adopted wider outreach strategies. Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal have organised Sammelans beyond the district level to reach more Panchayati Raj representatives and functionaries.
The VB-G RAM G Act places Gram Panchayats at the centre of rural development, giving them key responsibilities in planning, implementation, monitoring, transparency and social accountability.
The Panch Sammelans have provided a platform to explain provisions related to the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan (VGPP), Rural Rozgar Guarantee Card, asset creation, convergence, social audit and grievance redressal.
The Ministry said the extensive participation has strengthened awareness about participatory planning and grassroots governance, while creating a stronger foundation for effective implementation of the Act and the empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions.
