New Delhi: Athlete safety, mental health support, maternity benefits and greater representation of women in sports administration featured prominently at a national consultation on women in sports organised by the National Commission for Women (NCW) in New Delhi.
Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse attended the Khel Shakti National Consultation at Vigyan Bhawan, where discussions centred on developing a national roadmap to strengthen women’s participation in sports.

The discussions covered athlete safety, implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) framework, healthcare, mental well-being, maternity support and women’s representation in sports governance.
Participants also stressed the need to strengthen institutional support for women athletes, build on initiatives such as the ASMITA Women’s League and ensure effective implementation of policies at district and grassroots levels.
