Zelenskyy Welcomes Energy Ceasefire Declaration, Urges Russia to Honour Commitment
Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of an energy-sector ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, but stressed that the agreement must translate into action on the ground.
In a post on social media platform X, Zelenskyy described the announcement as good news and said its implementation was crucial. However, he alleged that Russian drone attacks, glide-bomb strikes and assaults on energy infrastructure had continued throughout the day. A power plant in Kharkiv was also targeted on Tuesday evening, he said.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces carried out more than 200 strikes on Ukraine’s electricity generation and transmission facilities over the past week, along with 17 attacks on gas and oil installations. He claimed the attacks had killed more than 150 people and injured over 700.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine had proposed several measures to de-escalate the conflict, but alleged that Russian President Vladimir Putin had rejected them.
Reiterating Kyiv’s commitment to peace, Zelenskyy questioned whether Moscow shared the same objective. He said Ukraine’s armed forces had received the necessary orders and that Kyiv was awaiting clear details of the dialogue between Washington and Moscow.
He urged Putin to honour the commitment outlined by Trump and work towards what he described as a real and dignified peace.
