15-year-old Suryavanshi lights up IPL with record-breaking ton vs SRH
Hyderabad: Teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken the cricketing world by storm with a breathtaking innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad, rewriting multiple records at just 15 years of age.
The young batter announced himself in style, smashing four sixes in the opening over off Prafull Hinge and going on to hit a total of 12 sixes, the most by an Indian in a single Indian Premier League innings.
Suryavanshi reached his century in just 36 balls, registering the third-fastest hundred in IPL history, behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball record. He also became the first player in IPL history to score two centuries in 36 balls or fewer, having previously achieved the feat in 35 balls.
Adding to his growing list of milestones, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to reach 1,000 T20 runs, achieving the mark at 15 years and 29 days. He also set a new record for the fastest to four T20 centuries, surpassing Usman Khan by reaching the mark in just 26 innings.
The teenager continued his record spree by completing 50 IPL sixes in just 15 innings, breaking Gayle’s earlier record of 21 innings. His half-century in the match came off just 15 balls, equalling the fastest fifty of the season alongside Abhishek Sharma.
Suryavanshi also bettered Mitchell Owen’s mark for the fastest 1,000 T20 runs in terms of balls faced, reaching the milestone in just 473 deliveries.
Despite the flurry of records, his effort came in a losing cause, but the innings has firmly established Suryavanshi as one of the most exciting young talents in the game.
