New Delhi: The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga will organise “Yoga Mahotsav – 25-Day Countdown to International Day of Yoga 2026” at the Western Group of Temples in Khajuraho Group of Monuments on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference ahead of the event, Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav said the programme reflects the government’s efforts to expand the reach of yoga across the country ahead of the 12th International Day of Yoga.
Calling Khajuraho a symbol of India’s cultural heritage, the minister said the event highlights the harmony between India’s ancient traditions and modern wellness practices.

The Ministry of Ayush is conducting a 100-day nationwide countdown campaign in collaboration with institutions across the country to promote awareness and public participation in yoga activities ahead of IDY 2026.
Officials said yoga practitioners, students, wellness enthusiasts and government representatives from different parts of the country are expected to participate in the event and perform the Common Yoga Protocol.
The programme will also be attended by Madhya Pradesh Ayush Minister Inder Singh Parmar and senior officials of the Ministry of Ayush.
The event is aimed at strengthening nationwide momentum for International Day of Yoga 2026 while showcasing India’s traditional wellness heritage on a global stage.
