Vijayanagar: Karnataka BJP president B. Y. Vijayendra on Thursday intensified his attack on the ruling Congress amid growing speculation over a possible leadership change in the state.
Speaking to reporters in Hospet, Vijayendra said the question of who would succeed Siddaramaiah as chief minister had now become a “million-dollar question”.
The BJP leader alleged that Karnataka had slipped into a financial crisis during the three years of Congress rule and claimed that governance in the state had “completely collapsed”.
“The government has focused only on minority appeasement, while the problems of farmers, the poor and the youth have been ignored,” he charged.
Vijayendra said intense competition had begun within the ruling Indian National Congress for the chief minister’s post amid ongoing discussions surrounding Siddaramaiah’s possible resignation.
He further claimed that Karnataka would not benefit irrespective of whether G. Parameshwara, D. K. Shivakumar or Mallikarjun Kharge takes over as chief minister.
