Tejasvi Surya slams BMRCL over repeated Namma Metro disruptions, seeks answers
Bengaluru: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has criticised the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) following another technical disruption in Namma Metro services, alleging that the rapid transit system has suffered 21 technical failures between January 2024 and June 26, 2026.
Expressing concern over recurring glitches, the Bengaluru South MP said commuters were being inconvenienced despite paying some of the highest metro fares in the country. In a post on social media platform X, Surya demanded greater transparency and accountability from BMRCL.
He also wrote to the Commissioner of Railway Safety (South Zone) and Karnataka Urban Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, seeking a detailed review of safety and maintenance practices.
“BMRCL is charging the highest metro fares in the country. Yet repeated technical failures continue to occur. The public deserves clarity on passenger safety and service quality,” Surya said.

The MP sought answers to five key questions, including the frequency of inspections of third-rail safety systems, details of the most recent inspection of the affected section, whether maintenance audits were conducted internally or outsourced, and whether inspection and audit reports would be made public.
This is just crazy.
Another day. Another disruption.
Since January 2024, this is the 21st reported technical disruption on Namma Metro.
No metro charges commuters as much as BMRCL does. Yet few metro systems have seen this frequency of disruptions.

He also called for the release of the root cause analysis report on the latest incident.
“Bengaluru commuters have the right to transparency, accountability and, above all, a safe metro system,” Surya said, urging BMRCL to address growing public concerns over the reliability of Namma Metro services.
