Jaipur: The southwest monsoon has weakened over Rajasthan, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting dry weather across most parts of the state for the next week.

No significant rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours. Phalodi remained the hottest location with a maximum temperature of 41°C, while Ajmer recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 24.9°C.

According to the IMD, Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions in western Rajasthan are expected to witness predominantly dry conditions for the next seven days. Eastern Rajasthan is also likely to remain largely dry for the next five to six days.

However, light rainfall is expected in parts of Bikaner, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu on July 14 and 15, while isolated showers may occur in the Udaipur division on July 16 and 17.

The weather department has also predicted dusty winds of 30-40 kmph over Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions during the next two to three days.

Meteorologists said a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around July 20. If it strengthens, monsoon activity is expected to revive across Rajasthan, bringing rainfall to several districts.

The anticipated revival of the monsoon is expected to benefit Kharif crops, improve soil moisture and provide much-needed relief from the prevailing hot and dry weather conditions.
