New Delhi: Parliament witnessed another day of disruptions on Friday as Opposition parties intensified protests over the NEET question paper leak controversy, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Members of the INDIA bloc and the Congress staged a sit-in protest at the Makar Dwar of Parliament House, raising slogans against the Centre and accusing the government of failing to safeguard the integrity of competitive examinations.

The continued protests disrupted proceedings in both Houses, leading to repeated adjournments. With persistent slogan-shouting by Opposition members, Parliament was adjourned till Monday without transacting significant business on the fifth day of the Monsoon Session.

Outside Parliament, students continued their protest at Jantar Mantar, with many arriving on foot from nearby Metro stations and bus stops. The Congress also called for demonstrations across the country over the alleged examination irregularities.

Ahead of the protest, the Congress reiterated its key demands, including the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, action against the alleged police excesses during student demonstrations, and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to students over the controversy.

Meanwhile, Ladakh-based activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day indefinite fast after the Centre announced plans to introduce a stricter law against question paper leaks and other examination-related malpractices.

The demands for the Education Minister’s resignation and other issues are those of the Opposition parties. The Centre has not issued an official response specifically addressing these demands, though it has announced proposed legislative measures to curb examination fraud.
