Bengaluru: Malayalam actor Mamitha Baiju, known for films such as Premalu and Janaki V v/s State of Kerala, has been hospitalised after developing a high fever and body pain, forcing her to cancel her planned trip to Australia.
Baiju was scheduled to attend the ‘Lendoxys Clyde Onam 2026’ celebrations as the chief guest on September 5. Following her hospitalisation, the Clyde Malayali Association has postponed the event.
Organisers are in discussions with Baiju’s team and the venue authorities to finalise a new date for the celebrations.
In a video message shared by the association, Baiju confirmed that she is currently undergoing treatment in hospital and said doctors had advised her to take complete rest.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to come on the scheduled date. I am currently receiving treatment in hospital. I would definitely have come if possible, but the doctors have advised me to take complete rest,” the actor said.
Baiju also apologised to the organisers and members of the association who had been looking forward to meeting her. She said she was disappointed at having to cancel the trip because of her health.
“I wanted to come and meet the Clyde family. I apologise to everyone. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I had to cancel the programme. I hope we can meet on another occasion,” she said.
The Clyde Malayali Association had earlier announced Baiju as its special guest and had been preparing for the Onam celebrations. With her Australia visit no longer possible as scheduled, organisers opted to postpone the event rather than proceed without her.
