Bengaluru: Meat lovers in Bengaluru will have to wait for a day as the sale of meat and slaughtering of animals will be banned across the city on September 4 in view of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has issued a circular directing all authorised and unauthorised slaughterhouses within its jurisdiction to remain closed on the day.
Retail outlets selling chicken, mutton, beef and fish have also been instructed not to operate on September 4. Hotels and restaurants will not be permitted to sell or process raw meat during the ban.
The restriction has been imposed in view of the religious festival. Officials have warned that action will be taken against establishments violating the order.
As a result, slaughterhouses and meat and fish shops across Bengaluru are expected to remain shut for a day, affecting the availability of non-vegetarian food in the city on Janmashtami.
