Four killed in three separate accidents in Karnataka

Chikkamagaluru/Shivamogga: Four people, including two bikers, a pedestrian and a Class 10 student, were killed in three separate incidents reported in Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts.

In the first incident, two men riding a motorcycle were run over by a government bus near Halehatti, close to Sakharayapatna in Chikkamagaluru district. The deceased, identified as Kallu and Nehan, were reportedly from Rajasthan and were working as tile workers.

According to reports, the duo were travelling on the motorcycle when another bike ahead of them suddenly took a right turn. The two lost their balance and fell onto the road. At the same time, a government bus approaching from behind ran over them, killing both. A case has been registered at Sakharayapatna police station.

In Shivamogga, pedestrian Anand was killed after a private bus allegedly knocked him down near the Agricultural College on Savalanga Road. Anand, a resident of Gangur, was reportedly crossing the road when the speeding bus hit him. He died on the spot. He was the father of Rakesh and Ravi, employees of Tungataranga newspaper.

In another incident, 16-year-old Class 10 student Mohammed Buran drowned while swimming in Sominakoppa Lake in Shivamogga. The boy had gone to the lake in the morning and was reported missing. Fire and emergency services personnel later recovered his body during a search operation.

The incident was reported under the jurisdiction of Vinobanagar police station.
