Aichi-Nagoya: India’s Nishad Kumar continued his impressive run at the Asian Para Games, winning his second gold medal with a Games-record jump of 2.04m in the men’s high jump T47 final.
Having clinched gold in the men’s long jump on his debut the previous day, Nishad delivered another dominant performance in his specialist event to add to India’s medal tally.
Nishad cleared 1.88m and 1.98m before moving ahead in the competition. Uzbekistan’s Muhammadabdulloh Tursunjonov, who recorded a personal best of 1.94m, failed to clear 1.96m, leaving Nishad in a strong position to secure the title.
The Indian then raised the bar to 2.04m and cleared it successfully, setting a new Games record and sealing his second gold medal at the continental para-sports event.
