People suffering from fatty liver disease are increasingly being advised to make changes to their diet and lifestyle to improve liver health. Experts say fruits such as Blueberry and Cranberry may offer certain benefits for people with fatty liver problems.
According to health experts, these berries are rich in antioxidants such as anthocyanins, which help reduce oxidative stress in the liver — a key factor linked to liver damage and inflammation.

A 2021 study on people with Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) found that cranberry supplements taken over six months helped reduce fat accumulation in the liver.
Experts also note that blueberries may help lower liver inflammation and support the body’s natural detoxification process. Their high fibre content is believed to improve digestion and help the liver process nutrients more effectively.
However, doctors caution that fruits alone cannot reverse fatty liver disease. They recommend regular exercise, weight management, a balanced diet and reduced intake of processed foods, sugar and alcohol for long-term liver health.
Health experts advise consulting a doctor or nutritionist before making major dietary changes, especially for people with existing liver conditions.
