Centre directs states to ban CJP protests; Delhi tightens security
Home Ministry’s reported directive to state governments takes centre stage as security is stepped up at Jantar Mantar, the Chief Election Commissioner’s residence and Delhi’s border points.
New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has reportedly directed all state governments to prohibit Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests, citing concerns over law and order amid preparations for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in the national capital.
The reported directive, issued through the Home Ministry, has placed the proposed protests under the spotlight, with authorities focusing on preventing possible violence and maintaining public order. State governments have been asked to take steps to ensure that the demonstrations do not lead to any law-and-order problems.

In Delhi, security arrangements have been strengthened at key locations in view of the planned protest. Additional vigilance has reportedly been maintained around the residence of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and local police keeping watch.
Security checks have also been intensified at several entry points to the national capital. Police personnel are checking vehicles at border locations, including the Chilla border connecting Noida with Mayur Vihar, as part of precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, traffic movement near the Tikri border was reported to be normal on Saturday morning, even as security agencies remained alert.
