New Delhi: Protests over the alleged NEET question paper leak intensified on the opening day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with police resorting to a lathi charge after demonstrators attempted to march towards Parliament demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The ‘Chalo Sansad’ march, organised from Jantar Mantar, was aimed at highlighting concerns over the alleged examination paper leak, student suicides and the functioning of the examination system. Police stopped the protesters near the Parliament area, leading to a scuffle before security personnel dispersed the crowd.

Several political leaders and activists joined the protest, including Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) chief and MP Chandrashekhar Azad, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and members of various organisations.

Delhi Police said the march was not permitted due to security arrangements around Parliament and reminded protesters that restrictions on public gatherings were in force. Authorities had prohibited assemblies of more than five people outside the designated protest zone.

Police urged citizens not to participate in unauthorised demonstrations and warned that legal action would be taken against those violating security and public order regulations.
