New Delhi: As Digital India approaches its 11th anniversary on July 1, the government highlighted major achievements in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, semiconductor manufacturing and innovation. Launched in 2015, the programme has expanded internet access fourfold, while mobile data costs have dropped from ₹269 per GB to ₹8–10, making connectivity among the most affordable globally.

Under the IndiaAI Mission, approved with an outlay of over ₹10,372 crore, more than 45,000 GPUs have been deployed through a shared compute facility. The AI ecosystem now includes 12,519 datasets, 307 AI models, 18 Centres of Excellence and 27 Data and AI Labs across Tier-II and Tier-III cities.

India’s semiconductor sector has also gained momentum, with 12 manufacturing projects worth about ₹1.64 lakh crore approved under the India Semiconductor Mission.

The electronics industry has grown into a ₹13 lakh crore sector and is now India’s third-largest export category. India is also the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer.

UPI completed 10 years in 2026, recording 24,162 crore transactions in FY 2025-26 and accounting for 81% of India’s digital payments.

India’s startup ecosystem recorded its strongest year, with recognised startups generating 23.36 lakh jobs. Nearly 48% of startups have at least one woman director or partner, reflecting inclusive growth driven by Digital India.
