DRDO Successfully Flight-Tests Pralay Quasi-Ballistic Missile Off Odisha Coast
New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Thursday successfully flight-tested the indigenously developed Pralay quasi-ballistic missile off the Odisha coast, marking a key milestone in India’s defence preparedness.
The test was conducted at around 11.10am from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island as part of user evaluation trials. The Defence Ministry said all stipulated objectives were achieved, with data captured by instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, confirming the success.
The missile was developed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad, along with other laboratories. Bharat Dynamics Limited, one of the development-cum-production partners, manufactured the system.

The trial was witnessed by senior DRDO officials, representatives of industry partners and the armed forces. The successful test brings the missile closer to induction into the armed forces, the ministry said.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the armed forces and industry partners, saying the missile’s advanced technologies would enhance India’s indigenous defence capabilities and operational readiness against emerging threats.
DRDO chairman and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh also congratulated the teams involved in the successful trial.
