New Delhi: The Central Government has extended two additional investment options under the National Pension System (NPS) to employees of Central Autonomous Bodies (CABs) covered under the pension scheme, giving them greater flexibility in planning their retirement investments.

The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, has issued a memorandum making applicable to CAB employees the Department of Financial Services’ notification dated November 13, 2025, which had earlier introduced the new investment choices for Central Government employees under NPS.

With the latest decision, eligible employees of Central Autonomous Bodies can now opt for:

  • LC-75 High (formerly Aggressive Life Cycle Fund): Allows equity exposure of up to 75%, making it suitable for subscribers seeking higher long-term growth.
  • Aggressive Life Cycle Fund (formerly Balanced Life Cycle Fund – BLC): Provides equity exposure of up to 50%, with the equity allocation gradually reducing from the age of 45 years, offering a balanced mix of growth and stability.

The Finance Ministry said the move is intended to provide greater investment flexibility, allowing NPS subscribers to choose pension investment options that best match their risk appetite, financial goals and retirement planning needs.

The government added that the expanded investment choices will strengthen subscriber choice and enhance the attractiveness of the National Pension System for employees of Central Autonomous Bodies.

Administrative Ministries and Departments have been directed to inform the Central Autonomous Bodies under their jurisdiction about the new investment options. The additional choices will also be made available through the Central Recordkeeping Agency (CRA) system for eligible subscribers.
