New Delhi: Union minister JP Nadda on Sunday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of attempting to create unrest through the INDIA bloc’s rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, alleging that the protest was part of a conspiracy to destabilise the elected government.

In a statement, Nadda said the rally was not an expression of democratic values but an attempt to promote anarchy. He alleged that the November 1 event had four objectives: hurting the sentiments of Sikhs, triggering violence in Delhi, disrupting business during the festive season and damaging India’s image.

Nadda also warned Gandhi against attempts to incite violence, asserting that India was a strong democracy and not a “banana republic”.

Referring to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Nadda described November 1 as a dark day in the country’s history. He accused Congress workers of involvement in the violence, which left thousands of Sikhs dead and several families devastated.
