Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday assured that promotions for Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officers will be expedited, stating that the process is already underway and will be completed soon.
Inaugurating the renovated building of the KAS Officers’ Association in Bengaluru, he said the revenue minister is actively pursuing the promotion process. He also indicated that the government is working towards appointing 33% of KAS officers as CEOs.
Issuing a stern message to officials, Siddaramaiah stressed the need for timely disposal of files. “Delays in file movement will not be tolerated. Delay itself is the root of corruption,” he said.
The CM urged officers to discharge their duties with integrity and commitment, and highlighted the association’s long history. He also recalled the administrative legacy of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, describing his governance as a model for development.
Emphasising coordination between the executive and legislature in a democracy, he said protecting public interest must remain the top priority.
Siddaramaiah called on officials to be sensitive towards weaker sections, noting that true public service lies in understanding people’s problems. “Only when you combine legal knowledge with empathy for the poor can you truly connect with citizens,” he said.
He added that direct benefit transfers under guarantee schemes have reduced middlemen interference, and reiterated that officers play a crucial role in implementing government policies effectively.
“Job satisfaction is the biggest reward,” the Chief Minister said.
