New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday lauded former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, describing his political journey as a reflection of social justice, equality and commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged.

In a post on X following Siddaramaiah’s resignation, Kharge said the veteran leader’s public life embodied the values of dignity, compassion and inclusive governance.

“Siddaramaiah, who rose from a humble background to serve twice as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, has consistently upheld the principles of equality, social harmony and empowerment of marginalized communities,” Kharge said.

The Congress chief noted that Siddaramaiah’s contribution to public service and welfare-oriented governance would be remembered with gratitude by both the people of Karnataka and the Congress party.

Praising his long political career, Kharge said Siddaramaiah remained steadfast in his commitment to social justice and the upliftment of backward and disadvantaged sections of society.

Kharge also wished the senior Congress leader good health and success in his future public life.

The message assumes significance amid the political developments in Karnataka following Siddaramaiah’s resignation, with discussions underway within the Congress on the state’s future leadership.
