KIA revises UDF: Arriving passengers to pay ₹125, ₹426 from Sept 1

Bengaluru: Passengers arriving at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will have to pay a User Development Fee (UDF) from September 1, following a revised tariff order issued by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA).

Under the new structure, domestic passengers will pay ₹300 on departure and ₹125 on arrival. For international passengers, the UDF will be ₹997 on departure and ₹426 on arrival.

The revised charges will remain in force until August 2029. Currently, domestic departing passengers pay a total UDF of ₹550, while international departing passengers are charged ₹1,500. Under the new structure, the combined UDF will come down to ₹425 for domestic passengers and ₹1,423 for international passengers.

The revised tariff is part of AERA’s order for KIA’s fourth control period, covering financial years 2026-27 to 2030-31. The authority has decided to split the UDF between arriving and departing passengers, in line with the model followed at several major airports in the country.

Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) said the revised tariff also takes into account major infrastructure projects aimed at expanding the airport’s capacity. These include Phase 2 of Terminal 2, the T2 Phase 2 apron, airside works and landside infrastructure projects.

Any additional charges linked to these projects will be introduced only after the facilities are completed, commissioned and the prescribed AERA process is completed.

Until August 31, the existing UDF rates for departing domestic and international passengers will continue.
