Mangaluru: The Crime Branch (CCB) police have seized more than 5 kg of MDMA valued at around ₹5.2 crore and arrested two alleged drug peddlers in a major anti-narcotics operation in coastal Karnataka.
Police said the accused were found in possession of the banned narcotic substance. Besides the MDMA, officers also seized bags and mobile phones allegedly used in the illegal drug trade.
The arrests follow an earlier operation on June 25, when police apprehended a suspect identified as Annapa Swamy and recovered 15 grams of MDMA from his possession. During interrogation, investigators reportedly obtained information about the alleged suppliers, leading to the latest operation.
Acting on specific intelligence, the CCB arrested Mohammed Alfaz (28), a resident of Indabettu village in Belthangady taluk, and Mohammed Mustafa (28), a resident of Laila Vivekananda Nagar in Ujire.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify others linked to the alleged drug trafficking network and trace the source and distribution channels of the seized contraband.
