New Delhi: Indian Railways’ RailOne app has crossed 4.76 crore downloads and is now facilitating an average of around 10 lakh ticket bookings every day, signalling a growing shift towards digital railway services.

Launched on July 1, 2025, RailOne brings reserved, unreserved and platform ticketing along with train and PNR enquiries, RailMadad and other passenger services onto a single platform. Its single sign-on facility allows passengers to access multiple services without having to download separate railway applications or remember multiple passwords.

As of August 2, 2026, the app was handling an average of 10 lakh tickets daily, including 2.79 lakh reserved and 7.24 lakh unreserved tickets.

The National Train Enquiry System (NTES), meanwhile, is processing more than 6 crore enquiries every day and handling around 80,000 concurrent users. The system provides near real-time information on train arrivals, departures and schedules through its website, mobile apps, enquiry counters and railway helpline 139.

The NTES Android app has recorded more than 4.5 crore downloads, while its iOS version has crossed 16 lakh downloads as of August 1, 2026. The digital system has helped reduce dependence on railway enquiry counters, thereby cutting queues and waiting time for passengers.

Railways has also enabled automatic refunds for online e-tickets when trains are cancelled. The refund process is initiated automatically after the scheduled departure time and credited to the passenger’s bank account.

Overall, around 89% of reserved tickets are now booked online, compared with about 49% in 2013-14. Non-counter bookings of unreserved tickets have also increased to nearly 39%.

The figures were provided by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
