Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday announced that the state government would provide pensions to all eligible toddy tappers and take responsibility for protecting their livelihoods.

Speaking after unveiling the statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud, he said wild date and Palmyra trees would be planted on government land and along canal embankments to create additional livelihood opportunities for the community.

Revanth said the government already provides ₹5 lakh compensation for accidental deaths of toddy tappers.

Revanth attacks BRS, promises social justice

The Chief Minister alleged that the previous BRS government encouraged traditional occupations while neglecting education. He said the Congress government was encouraging children from these communities to pursue higher education and become doctors, lawyers and IAS officers.

Describing his administration as one of “social justice”, Revanth contrasted it with what he called KCR’s “family justice”. He cited the appointment of Mahesh Kumar Goud as TPCC president and the induction of backward-class leaders into the Cabinet.

He also accused BRS leaders of spreading false information against the government through media and social media.

Revanth alleged that opposition leaders were performing occult rituals against Telangana’s welfare and farmers. He claimed the Congress would win 117 seats and return to power for a second term, urging the Goud community to support the party.
