Chandigarh: Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League 2026, successfully chasing down a daunting target in a high-scoring encounter.
After opting to bowl at the Mullanpur Cricket Ground, Rajasthan Royals conceded a big total as Punjab Kings posted 222/4 in 20 overs. Opener Prabhsimran Singh led the charge with 59, while Priyansh Arya added 29. Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Cooper Connolly chipped in with 30 runs each, before Marcus Stoinis finished strongly with an unbeaten 62.

For Rajasthan, Yash Raj picked up two wickets, while Jofra Archer and Berger claimed one each.
In reply, Rajasthan Royals came out aggressively. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a quick 43, while Yashasvi Jaiswal anchored the innings with a 51-run knock.
The momentum was maintained in the middle overs, with Donovan Ferreira playing a crucial attacking role to push the team close to victory.
Rajasthan Royals eventually chased down the target in 19.2 overs, finishing at 228/4, sealing a comprehensive six-wicket win.
