New Delhi: Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday led the 85th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, with the nationwide initiative focused on the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ and the message, “Say yes to fitness, Say NO to drugs.”

Organised under the Fit India movement, the campaign sought to encourage young people to stay away from substance abuse and adopt fitness and healthy lifestyles. Participants across the country took a collective pledge to lead lives free from addiction and promote healthier choices among their families and communities.

Mandaviya described Sundays on Cycle as a growing mass movement, saying youngsters across more than 10,000 locations were spreading the message of fitness through cycling. Launched in December 2024, the initiative has so far attracted more than 30 lakh participants across India.

In Delhi, the main event was held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, where more than 1,000 people participated in the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ pledge. The programme included yoga and Zumba sessions, followed by a five-kilometre cycling ride covering India Gate and Kartavya Path. Participants also took part in badminton, tug-of-war and obstacle races.

Actor and gymnast Siddharth Nigam, international squash player Gurveer Singh, Fit India Ambassador Narendra Kumar and Fit India Champion Meenal Pathak were among the special guests.

Nigam urged people to stay away from drugs, cigarettes and alcohol and devote at least 30 minutes every day to fitness. Gurveer Singh also called on youngsters to choose physical activity over addiction.

The cycling drive is organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India, Raahgiri Foundation and MY Bharat. Events are being held across states and Union Territories through SAI centres, Khelo India facilities, schools, colleges and Namo Fit India clubs.
