Kochi: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has intensified its anti-narcotics campaign in Kerala under Operation Chakravyuh, leading to the seizure of more than 24 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and the arrest of five persons.
According to officials, coordinated operations conducted by the DRI’s Cochin unit at Kochi, Malappuram and Thiruvananthapuram resulted in the recovery of contraband including methaqualone, methamphetamine and hashish oil that was allegedly meant for illegal distribution and trafficking.
The agency said the drugs were being smuggled through multiple channels, including passenger baggage at airports, courier consignments and outbound export cargo. Five individuals, including key operatives linked to trafficking networks, were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Officials said the seizures underscore the DRI’s continued efforts to dismantle organised drug trafficking networks operating through both domestic and international routes.
