Hema Malini Portrays Mother Ganga in 90-Minute Dance Drama at Vrindavan’s Brajraj Utsav
Vrindavan: Veteran actor and BJP MP Hema Malini portrayed Mother Ganga in her signature classical and freestyle dance-drama Ganga at Haridas Auditorium in Vrindavan, marking the opening of the Brajraj Utsav.
The 78-year-old actor delivered a 90-minute performance combining dance and acting, depicting the divine descent of the sacred river to Earth. In a dramatic moment, Malini descended onto the stage using a crane, appearing as Mother Ganga.
Malini said she had been performing the production for several years, beginning in Prayagraj before taking it to Varanasi and other places.

She said the story had also been expanded to include the Yamuna, given the shared spiritual significance of the two rivers and the urgent need to address pollution.
“The Yamuna River has become so heavily polluted; it is crucial to clean it up,” Malini said, explaining that the Yamuna had been incorporated into the narrative while the Ganga remained its primary focus.
Expressing happiness over the opening performance at Haridas Auditorium, she said it was a pleasure to present the production in Vrindavan as part of the Brajraj Utsav.
