Chennai: Several parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive rain over the next few days due to a weak atmospheric circulation over the state’s coastal region, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, said.

Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts on Thursday. Strong surface winds may also occur in these areas.

From August 21 to 25, light rain is expected at some places in the Western Ghats and coastal districts of northern Tamil Nadu.

Most other parts of the state are likely to remain largely dry, with isolated showers in some areas. The weather department has not forecast widespread or very heavy rainfall.

In Chennai and its suburbs, partly cloudy skies are expected on Thursday. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur at some places during the evening or night.
