Chikkaballaapura: Spiritual strength is essential to finding solutions to conflicts and problems confronting the world, and individuals must take responsibility for addressing them rather than blaming others, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai said on Sunday.

Delivering a benediction during religious and cultural programmes marking the eighth day of Sharada Navaratri at Satya Sai Grama in Muddenahalli, he invoked the message of “Satyameva Jayate” (Truth alone triumphs), observing that truth ultimately prevails, even if it takes time.

Drawing a parallel with Lord Shiva holding the deadly Halahala poison in his throat for the welfare of the world, Madhusudan Sai said people should accept criticism, insults and praise with equanimity. Maintaining mental balance in all circumstances, he said, was a hallmark of a yogi.

He emphasised that India’s spiritual heritage and the values of Sanatana Dharma could offer solutions to global challenges. He also called for building an inclusive society that leaves no one behind, including senior citizens.

Speaking at the event, B.N. Narasimhamurthy, president of the Prashanthi Balamandira Trust, said Madhusudan Sai was working towards the vision of providing free medical education, particularly to enable students from rural backgrounds to pursue medical studies. He added that a life without spiritual values could lead to various tragedies.

Chaluvadi Narayanaswamy, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, said society should not be divided on the basis of caste or religion. He stressed that the upliftment of weaker sections must be prioritised while working towards social justice.

Appreciating initiatives that provide free education, medical services and healthcare to marginalised communities, he said the principle of “One World, One Family” conveyed a message of universal humanity.

An evening programme titled ‘Anubhava Mantapa’ featured students of Nada Gurukula at Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence performing Vachanas composed by ten Shiva Sharanas. The devotional verses were presented in ten different ragas, accompanied by explanations of their philosophical meanings.

Works by saints including Basavanna, Allama Prabhu, Akka Mahadevi, Madivala Machayya and Ambigara Chowdayya were introduced to the audience through music.

Hadapada Appanna’s Vachana, ‘Angavama Maredu Lingava Koodi’, was rendered in Maand raga, while Aydakki Lakkamma’s ‘Garvadinda Maduva Bhakti’ was presented in Shuddha Saranga. The musical programme added a distinctive cultural dimension to the Navaratri celebrations.
